           1970 Dodge Challenger R/T, Original Rallye Red, 440, 4-speed

Back in the late 60's and early 70's, Detroit's mightiest machines were Chrysler "Muscle Cars". No manufacturer was more outrageous in
engineering and style or had a more devoted following. One of the most popular of all the Chrysler "Muscle Cars" was the 1970 Challenger RT. With
the Magnum 440 and a Hurst Pistol Grip 4-speed, the Challenger RT had reliable "tire squealing" acceleration. It also had the look and sound that
could stir the souls of most muscle car enthusiasts by just seeing it idling at a stop light.

Our goal is to capture this Chrysler "Muscle Car Magic", and then add upgrades that will improve handling, comfort, performance and safety. It is
also to build a Challenger that will be easy and comfortable to drive so you will look forward to driving it and sharing the experience with others. The
Challenger will be built to be driven and enjoyed on a regular basis, and not just parked in a garage and typically driven only to shows and for special
occasions. It will be turn-key ready for car shows, Mopar events, the track and weekend cruising. This Challenger will be the car you pick when you
want to have fun driving.

To accomplish this goal, we dismantled the car down to its bare frame. The K-member (engine cradle), entire suspension, doors, front fenders,
dash cover and frame, under dash components, interior parts, wiring, cables, metal lines, grommets and fasteners were all removed. Minor body work
was performed using minimal body filler. All old after market undercoating was removed to give the frame a fresh "just off the assembly line"
appearance. The frame/chassie was then sealed for rust protection and painted the original color, "Rallye Red", to match the exterior body color. The
car was then sent to our paint shop for final wet sanding, sealing, original top coat and color sanding.

All mechanical parts were disassembled and inspected. The engine, transmission, driveshaft, clutch and differential assembly were completely
rebuilt using only USA parts to maintain or exceed original factory standards. All other mechanical systems were rebuilt or replaced, including brakes,
suspension, steering, fuel, exhaust, and electrical. The RT Rallye dash cluster was completely dismantled and rebuilt, including the exact
synchronization of the new Mopar Performance electronic ignition system with the original tachometer. All mechanical systems were tested and
adjusted. A dyno was used to check loaded tailpipe emissions and horsepower output. Finally, the car was test driven as needed to ensure reliable
and comfortable operation in city traffic, high speed cruising, heavy acceleration and panic break.

Upgrading was done to improve performance, handling, comfort, appearance and safety. For example, high efficiency insulation was used
extensively to significantly reduce interior noise. We also chose a 2.76 gear ratio to make high speed cruising quieter and more relaxed. Slightly larger
rear tires were added to give an aggressive stance. Wheel well moldings and front fender script were left off to give the car a sleeker, more streamline
appearance. Koni shocks were installed for improved ride control and disc brakes were used for more efficient braking. A small hydrogen generator
was also installed to boost power 20-25% and increase mileage from 12-14 mpg to 25-28 mpg. To keep an "all original" look under the hood, this
generator, the size of a small shoe box, will be inconspicuously mounted between the radiator bottom tank and the front bumper. To be more practical
and convenient, the engine was designed to require only regular unleaded gas. A complete list of all upgrades and features is available on our
website.

We have written extensive parts and labor invoices in order to document all the details in every phase of restoring this 1970 Challenger RT.
These invoices are available on our website for any prospective buyer to review. For your protection, all invoiced work will be covered under our
standard one year, 12,000 mile warranty. We also can refer several companies that specialize in financing and insuring classic cars.

Our Challenger is ideally suited for someone who loves the styling and classic look of the 1970 Challenger, but wants the reliability, smooth
operation, controlled handling, comfort and safety of a modern or upgraded muscle car. If you want to buy an upgraded Challenger like this, you would
probably have two options. The first option is to buy a "project car" and then hire a restoration shop to build the "car of your dreams". The second
option is to test drive a "turn-key ready" car and buy the car only after you are confident that it is the right car for you.

If you pursued the first option, and wanted the car to have a Magnum 440, a Hurst Pistol Grip 4-speed, original color "Rallye Red" and no vinyl
top, you may not be able to find one. Even if you did find one, the initial cost of the car, approx. $25, 00
0, plus the cost of complete mechanical and
cosmetic restoration, between $55-65,000, plus the perfect paint job, $7,000, and the desired upgrades, $10-12,000, would put the final price at
$97-109,000, assuming everything went smoothly and met with all your expectations. The time needed to transform your "project car" into the desired
finished product could easily be two years, again assuming that everything goes as planned.

If you pursued the second option, you would simply take a test drive to confirm that the Challenger was truly the "car of your dreams". The only
investment would be the time you spent looking at the car and taking it for a test drive.

Our Challenger is in the final stage of a bare frame restoration so no pictures will be available until the expected completion time of March 2009.
However, you can see many pictures on this website of the last three Mopar muscle cars that we have completed and sold, including a black 1970
Challenger, please click on "Completed Projects". If you need any more information, feel free to call Charlie Kauffman at 619-280-3483 for more
